Write For Your Whisky

Christmas is coming!

Winter, and particularly Christmas, is one of the best times of year to enjoy a dram with family and friends. What better way to savour some fine spirit than in some fine company, next to a nice fire (albeit an electric one) and relish in the past year and the one to come.

I thought a great idea to celebrate this new endeavour of mine, to write about whisky,  would be to give away a favourite single malt absolutely free (so long as you’re legal drinking age).

Free whisky, you say? Yes, but it will take a wee bit of audience participation.

From now until the 10th December I would like to invite you to tell me what is your favourite whisky, and why?

You can message me through Instagram (link in about section), comment at the end of this post or email me (also in about page).

And there it is, you could have a lovely bottle of single malt in time for Christmas without paying anything.

  1. Trying to pick out a favourite bottle from the myriad of marvelous malts that have been released this year is no easy task.
I’ve gone for one that breaks the barriers..
This expression breaks the barriers of accessibility.
Specialist spirit shops nor niche internet sites are shunned in favour of the High Street and shopping centres.
This expression broke the barrier of affordability.
Such aged bottles normally attract a triple digit price tag. Not so this cheeky little number.
This expression broke the barriers of boundaries.
From Aberdeen to Aberystwyth, Belfast to Ballincollig, eager fans lit up the internet with their tales of trials & tribulations in obtaining a bottle.
From distillery owners to everyday shoppers this bottle quickly became a must have item.
It was from a country many had not yet sampled as it had been absent from that particular marketplace before.
    And then the reviews came in;
‘Fabulous fruit, dry oaky tannins, deep spices, complex & long lasting’
The whiskey sensation of the year for me has to be…….
    Aldi 26yo Irish Reserve.
    Quality malt for the masses.
Or at least those that were lucky enough to bag one!

  2. I’d have to go for Redbreast 12 CS. All the wonderful Christmas cake sweetness with that extra spicy edge. A sensationally well rounded whiskey. Certainly ticks all the boxes for me
