So this is just a wee update for those who ever find themselves down near Girvan, South Ayrshire. There happens to be a very quaint wee whisky store named “A D Rattray’s Whisky Experience and Whisky Shop”. We only stopped in briefly on the way home but were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere of the place; a very rustic and aesthetically appealing shop that stocked a wide variety of popular whisky.
Staff were informative and helpful and more than willing to offer advice and tastings of a variety of whiskies.
I was treated to an Arran single malt which I will review later and there were some lovely tastings of different malts. There was a rather reasonably priced “cask islay” which was their house bottling of an unlabelled distillery from Islay; very complex and heavily peated whisky that had a sweet finish.
Lots to offer here with different tasting sessions and tours on offer and worth a visit if you’re in the area.
